The public area houses a coffee shop and ample seating, whilst areas have been set aside for special displays. Public international dialling telephone facilities are also provided.

Bunkering
Gibraltar is now the Mediterranean's number one bunkering port with over 2.7 million tonnes of fuel supplied during 2000. Possibly the main reason for this success is that the number of oil majors physically delivering at Gibraltar has also increased over recent years.

Most grades of fuel are available, from 30 to 380 cst and to ISO 8217 1996 standard.The main companies supplying at Gibraltar are Shell, Cepsa, FAMM, Macoil and Aegean Bunkering through a range of bunkering barges as described under our general bunkering information pages.

Independent oil quality testing/analysis and on-board ullage reading facilities are also widely available

Luboils
This is another field which has seen a substantial increase in delivery figures, with availability of all major brands in barrels or in bulk.

Water
Available both at anchor and practically from all berths.

Slop reception
This facility is presently available, however a new sullage plant, to become operational imminently, should greatly enhance handling capacities and reduce collection costs.

Ship repairs
3 Drydocks (one of which can cater upto Panamax size vessels), berthage, conversion and repair facilities are operated by Cammel Laird Gibraltar. There are also a number of electrical, mechanical and steel workshops who operate independently and are also experienced in ship repair. Electronic repair facilities are also available, with all major manufacturers enjoying representation at Gibraltar.

Underwater repairs and cleaning
The owners of Scamp are based in Gibraltar and also have a diving station situated locally, which undertake all types of cleaning and temporary repairs.

Towage
There are two tug companies now operating at Gibraltar able to undertake all types of harbour towage and docking services and off-port limits assistances.

Airport/Crewchanges
The International Airport is situated at just 1.4 Km from the port and has up to three daily connections to and from the U.K. Gibraltar is not a signatory to the Schengen Agreement which is of great value when undertaking crew changes here. An additional bonus for crew changes these days are the daily flight connections now available through London Heathrow direct to Gibraltar. Transfers can also be arranged through Spanish neighbouring airports of Malaga or Jerez, which are approximately 1.5 hours driving distance from Gibraltar.

In view of the minimal bureaucratical requirements, Gibraltar provides an excellent option for quick turnarounds and dispatches.

Off-Port Limits Services
These are arrangeable by rendezvous either 1 Mile East of Europa Point (Off-Port Limits 'A') or within a 2.5 Mile radius from position Lat 36 Degs 02 Mins N Long 05 degs 15 Mins W (Off-Port Limits "B") and at the Eastern anchorage (Off-Port Limits "C"), now able to undertake unrestricted operations, but always dependant on limitations on carrying craft engaged.

Receipt of spare parts
Airfreight facilities are available both via London or Malaga (Spain). Goods arriving directly via Gibraltar can be cleared through Customs on a round the clock basis, however goods arriving via the land frontier from Spain are subject to Spanish Customs opening times of strictly between 0800 to 1400 hrs, Mondays to Fridays. Customs clearance procedures once within Gibraltar are minimal.

Stevedoring
There is presently one stevedoring company in operation, which can undertake basically all types of general cargo services, including container handling.

Charts and Publications
There is a fully stocked and up to date Admiralty Chart Agency in Gibraltar.

Medical Services
Assistance is available at short notice round the clock. Gibraltar, due to it's geographical position and minimal formalities is often a preferred port for this service. Other services undertaken are those of on-board Drug/Alcohol Testing, Innoculations etc...

P & I Representation
All major Clubs have correspondents at Gibraltar.

Surveyors
All types of surveys can be undertaken, with Surveyors promptly available within Gibraltar or the neighbouring hinterland if more specialized work is required.

British Registry
Ship and Yacht registration is undertaken at Gibraltar under the Merchant Shipping (Registration) Ordinance, 1993.
