Oil refinery
Owned by CEPSA is located in the Northernmost part of the bay, produces primary gasoil, fueloil and gasoline, as well as smaller amounts of kerosene, petrol and lubricants. The facility can process approximately nine million tons of crude oil annually at peak capacity. Tankers can use either of two modern liquid bulk handling facilities, a monobuoy system or a shoreside terminal.
Bunkers
Vessels may bunker either alongside or at the anchorage, day or night. There are no draft restrictions at the anchorage. There are two companies providing bunkering services, these are CEPSA, with storage capacity of 2.700.000 cubic metres and CLH with 75.000 cubic metres of capacity.

All Major brands are available in drums or in bulk.

Slop reception
The service provides rapid, round-the-clock, sludge disposal and bilge clean-up through 2.400 cbm storage capacity plant backed up by three truck-mounted tanks fitted with 3" hose as well as barge service for ships at anchor.

There are many ship repair companies in operation, able to undertake all types of maintenance and repair services alongside, at anchor or as riding crews.
Container handling
Algeciras is the most active container port in the Mediterranean, handling 40 million tons of cargo and 1,5 million TEU'S, and is ranked 25th amongst the worlds' container ports. Tennants Maersk Line - Sea Land enjoy terminal facilities, that provide deep berthing and the latest handling facilities, that can handle upto 8.000 TEU vessels. There is additional berth availability with container handling facilities for non-schedule liner business.
Ferry and ro-ro services
Being the southernmost developed port in Spain, Algeciras handles the majority of passenger and ro-ro traffic between Europe and Africa. As the African economy grows, so is the expected volume in traffic at this port. To cater for these demands a new passenger terminal has recently been constructed, which will ensure a smooth and efficient operation. A busy summer day can see up to 62 trips across the straights.
Bulk cargo handling
Algeciras is also developing as a major Mediterranean hub for the handling and transhipment of solid bulk cargo such as coal and other minerals. There are two leading dry-bulk operators who provide the base for this expansion.
Underwater repairs and cleaning
All types of cleaning and temporary repairs can be undertaken by several companies.

Airports
The main airport link for Algeciras is Malaga, which is approximately 135 km up the Mediterranean coastline, however other airports also used are those of Gibraltar, Jerez and Seville.
Off-port limits operations
These can be undertaken without any restrictions and minimal delays to vessels.
Receipt of spare parts
Best connections for airfrieght consignments is via Malaga airport, from where expeditious arrangements can be made for onforwarding to Algeciras.
